Many engaged couples arrange prenuptial agreements, and celebrities are no exception. Any individual that brings business or personal assets to marriage would benefit from negotiating a prenup. With their lavish lifestyle and millions of dollars at their disposal, stars can benefit more from having a safety net in case of divorce than the average person. When you're rich and famous, the stakes of marriage are high, so it's essential to have a solid prenup as well as a top-tier divorce attorney. Hopefully you won't need the latter. Celebrity relationships are entertaining, making sense that their prenup agreements wouldn't be any different. Although you probably don't have as much property at stake, celebrity prenups can be an interesting way to learn how prenuptial agreements work. With more cash than they know what to do with, celebrities want to make sure that they don't lose everything in case of a nasty divorce. However, money isn't the only thing negotiated in celebrity prenups. The sheer amount of money involved isn't even the most bizarre part of celebrity prenups. Their prenups often include "lifestyle clauses" and other negotiated terms that most people wouldn't consider for their prenuptial agreement. In fact, although many of these celebrity prenups are written under California law, many of these lifestyle clauses may not be enforceable in a California prenup. Some such clauses have celebrities hold their partners accountable for things like cheating, drinking, and even their weight in a prenup.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West

Kim and Kanye have been making headlines right now with their divorce plans after six years of marriage. The couple married in 2014 after they dated for three years and have four kids together; North, Chicago, Saint, and Psalm. However, with Kim living in Calabasas and Kanye in Wyoming, things aren't looking too good for the separated couple right now. Kanye has preached about prenups before in his hit song, Gold Digger. So, what is their prenup agreement in case of divorce? Kanye has been fascinated with Kim long before they became an item. He's stated before she's "The Juliet to his Romeo," so it would only make sense that their prenup would be lax. Kanye didn't even think that they needed a prenup in the first place and was willing to give Kim free reign on all of his assets in case of divorce. Despite this, they ended up working out a prenuptial agreement in 2014, two months before their wedding. The prenup reportedly states that Kim will receive $1 million for every year that they are married. If their divorce follows through, she should be getting $6 million from Kanye. Kim will also keep any gifts that Kanye gave her during their marriage, including $5 million in art, $4 million in cars, and $3.2 million in jewelry. West added a clause that prevents Kris Jenner from making career decisions that would affect the couple.

Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan

You would think one of the richest men in the World with a $66.5 billion net worth would have a prenup to protect his riches. Their agreement is more about love and dedicating time for one another. Their prenup reportedly states that the couple must go out on a date and spend 100 minutes of alone time together once a week. Priscilla articulated that the time cannot be spent in their residence or at Facebook headquarters. Ironically, the couple isn't allowed to use Facebook during their alone time, per the prenup.

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel

Timberlake and Biel started the trend of celebrities including 'lifestyle clauses' in their prenups. After getting married in 2012, the couple signed a prenup divvying up their property and assets and an infidelity clause. That's right, if the couple were to divorce, Timberlake would owe Biel $500 million if he ever cheated on her. YUP. In 2019 there was speculation that Timberlake was a little too close to his co-star Alisha Wainwright, who played his lover in "Palmer." Photos and videos surfaced of Timberlake and Wainwright at a bar together in New Orleans, including some of them holding hands and even Wainwright with her hand on Timberlake's leg. Shortly after, Timberlake made a public apology to his wife, stating that he "displayed a strong lapse in judgment and had been drinking a fair bit," Despite this incident, the couple is still going strong, and they even recently welcomed a new baby!

Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo

After her divorce from Nick Lachey, Jessica Simpson got engaged to NFL star Tony Romo. The two had a reality show together for a while. However, their engagement still failed. Romo added possibly one of the most shallow clauses to the couple's prenup. The infamous lifestyle clause stated that Simpson would have to pay him $500 thousand for every pound she gained after 135 poun. Romo seemed to be mainly concerned about his future wife's appearance when they were drafting their prenup. Luckily for Simpson, the two never ended up tying the knot.

Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman

Urban and Kidman seem to have one of the happiest and peaceful marriages compared to other celebrity couples. While other celebrity couples have lifestyle clauses in infidelity cases or, in Romo's case, weight gain, Urban and Kidman's prenup includes a clause about substance use. This clause seems to come from love and concern on Kidman's end rather than worry about unfaithfulness or appearances. Every year that the couple is married, Urban can receive $600,000, under one condition. Since he struggles with drug and alcohol abuse, he can only receive the money if he can control his addictions. A couple of months after their wedding in 2006, Urban checked himself into rehab and has been sober ever since. Urban has spoken openly about how Kidman played an essential role in his sobriety. She was the one to ultimately get him sober by staging an intervention and urging him to go to rehab.

Beyonce and Jay-Z

Beyonce and Jay-Z both had successful music careers when they first married in 2008. Beyonce was a singer in Destiny's Child and was working on her solo career. On the other hand, Jay-Z had already been a rapper for years and was starting to produce music for other artists. Their initial prenup is very interesting and had stipulations that caught people's attention. For starters, Jay-Z agreed to pay Beyonce $5 million for every child that they have together if they split up. On top of that, Jay-Z must pay Beyonce $1 million for every year they are married for up to fifteen years. The couple revisited their agreement last year after going through a rough patch in their marriage. They realized that their respective net worths had changed drastically since they first got married if anything happened between them. They amended the terms of their prenup to split their assets and monetary additions more evenly in the event of divorce.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

After being together for almost ten years, one of the world's favorite couples filed for divorce. Pitt and Jolie have six adopted children together as well as a total of 12 properties! So, how did they end up splitting everything up in their prenup? It's been reported that Pitt and Jolie had an "ironclad" prenup to divide their $400 million net worth post-divorce however, not many other details are known about the financial aspect of their prenup. As far as custody goes, Jolie wanted primary custody of their children. Jolie reported that she disapproved of Pitt's parenting style and his drinking and marijuana usage. It has also been rumored that their prenup included a clause that stated if Pitt ever cheated on Jolie, she would get the lions share of the martial estate. Really, it’s all speculation, so who knows!

Ice-T and Coco Austin

Law and Order star Ice-T and his model wife, Coco Austin, have one of the most unique prenups. The couple has been wedded since 2002 with no plans for divorce so far. However, their prenup is still odd, to say the least. If the couple were to divorce, Ice-T would have the rights to Austin's breast and butt implants. Weird. And, probably not that enforceable. Although there were allegations of Coco cheating on Ice-T, the couple put those rumors to rest and are still happily married.

Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris

Hugh Hefner, the original Playboy, married former playboy bunny Crystal Harris in 2012. The two had a 60 year age gap, but we know that Harris wasn't in it for the money because of the strict prenup they signed before their wedding. Harris did not receive any of Hefner's $43 million net worth and was not added to his will. After peacefully passing away at the age of 91, Hefner's estate was divided between his four children, the University of Southern California, and several charities. The Playboy Mansion was sold as well in 2016 for $100 million. Although Harris wasn't in his will, Hefner reported that she would be taken care of after his passing. She received the rights to one of his properties, valued at $7 million.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck

After Affleck spent a night in Canada at a strip club, his fiancé J-Lo wanted to make sure that he wouldn't be unfaithful again. And who can blame her? J-Lo would only agree to marry Affleck if he agreed to a no-cheating clause – also known as an infidelity clause in their prenuptial agreement. Per the agreement, if he were to be unfaithful, J-Lo would be entitled to 50% of his assets. If not, the couple would each keep their individual assets in the case of a divorce. There were also rumors about how Affleck tried to demand sex four times a week in the prenuptial agreement as well as $5 million just for marrying J-Lo! Luckily their messy relationship ended and the couple never married.
